ABSTRACT
Effects of carbon sources (sucrose, glucose), and doses of sucrose on the induction of rooting in FHIA-01 (AAAB) banana in vitro.
Methodology and results: For the first test, 4 treatments were constituted: control treatment without carbon source, (T0); 30 g/l of sucrose (T1); 31, 71 g/l of glucose (T2); 15 Sucrose g/l + 15,855 g/l glucose (T3). In order to examine the effects of sucrose concentration, 5 g /l, 10 g/l, 15 g/l and 20 g/l (control treatment) sucrose were added in the rooting medium. The results showed that rooting of the FHIA-01 hybrid is not influenced by the source of carbon, sucrose, glucose and their combination having given similar effects. However, the different reductions of the saccharose concentration affected rooting significantly.
Conclusion and mains applications of research: Different sources of less expensive carbon can reduce the cost of in vitro rooted plantlets to effectively respond to the need for planting material of farmers in poor regions. In addition, they reduce losses vitroplants recorded during the acclimatization phase , due to poor quality of the root system.
